EgyptPower & Water

The Bahr al-Baqar water treatment plant in East Port Said, which is scheduled to open today, is considered the largest of its kind in the history of Egypt and the Middle East, and the most important project in the development of the Sinai Peninsula at a cost of $1.2 billion m3, and about one billion m3 each year.
The length of the Bahr al-Baqar drain is about 190 km, and it is considered one of the most dangerous sources of environmental pollution in Egypt. It is the only one that extends from the south of Cairo through five governorates, namely Port Said, Ismailia, Sharqiya, Dakahlia and Qalyubia, and ends with disbursing what is inside it in Lake Manzala.
