The third line of the Cairo metro is the main line of the Cairo metro , currently the third metro line connects Ataba in the east of downtown Cairo with Abbasia and Heliopolis in the northeast. In the future, the line will extend from the northwest of the Greater Cairo area in Imbaba to the northeast to serve Cairo Airport . The metro line will cross the Nile twice on the western branch between Kit Kat and Zamalek and the eastern branch between Zamalekand central Cairo. The total length of the line is about 30.6 km, it contains an underground part of 28.1 km and the rest of the line is about 2.5 km. It will be implemented in four phases. The project includes a main workshop adjacent to the western station of the line and a light repair workshop in the middle of the line at Abbasiya station .
The project is implemented by Vinci, one of the French pioneers.
